"Okay look....let's take one of the oldest and most trusted brands of Jeep in the world...and put the biggest engine in it we can fit!"
And it was so.
Following the great muscle car tradition, Jeep took their fairly sedate Grand Cherokee that has been around since 1993 and put a 470 horsepower, 465 foot pounds of torque, 6.4 L Hemi V8 engine in it.
Ta-da!
This gave Jeep an SUV that could go from standing still to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds and blast through the quarter mile in 13.1 seconds.
That's pretty darn quick for a 4,261 pound SUV.
Pretty darn quick indeed.
To give you some idea, a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCab can go from 0 to 60 in 6.6 seconds and turn the quarter in 15.1 seconds.
And it ain't no slouch!
Even with the ground thumping engine it is still able to deliver 17 mpg City and 25 mpg Highway.
And with a larger gas tank in it, Chrysler says that it has a 500 mile range.
The bad news is that this beast retails for around $64,000 maxed out.
But still...for what you are getting, it's really not that bad when compared to some of the others out there.
And it rules.
Until the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat comes out.
