You could get a V8 engine option in 1955 and the 2 speed Powerglide automatic, or a standard three speed Synchro-Mesh manual transmission with optional overdrive.
The base 265 engine put out 162 horses.
But you could opt for the "Power Pack" that had a 4 barrel and put out 180.
The ultimate though was the "Super Power Pack" that boosted the compression and put out almost 200 horses.
A maxed out 1955 could go from 0 to 60 in 12.9 seconds and had a top speed of 94 mph, which in 1955, was not bad at all.
